March 18-20, 2011 – San Francisco Bay Area, California –
The World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association hosted over 180 participants for the first ever World Kido Federation Member Summit. Representing 17 U.S. states, 10 different countries and 5 continents, attendees came together to celebrate what is best about Korean Martial Arts: training, camaraderie, friendship and collaboration. Grandmaster, Master and Instructor-level members shared their experiences, exchanged ideas and supported one another as Korean Martial Artists. A significant theme throughout the weekend was leadership for the organization and for Korean Martial Arts at large. Topics covered included organizational updates, the future of Korean Martial Arts, leadership in the Martial Arts community, current strategy and upcoming plans for the World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association, and an intensive training seminar with Grandmaster In Sun Seo, President/Chairman of the World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association. Keynote speaker Grandmaster Seo not only shared different hosinsool concepts and applications he had learned and developed over his 50 years of martial art training, but also provided a firsthand account of the advancement of Hapkido during the 50’s and 60’s, and his vision for the future of Korean Martial Arts. With four 9th Dan Grandmasters, seven 8th Dan Grandmasters, seven 7th Dan Masters and over 40 5th Dan and above Masters contributing to this momentous event, the World Kido Federation/Hanminjok Hapkido Association Member Summit was a truly historic occasion that will have a lasting impact on the future of Korean Martial Arts.

It was indeed a great event and accomplishment for GM In Sun Seo and the World Kido/Hanminjok Association. I am very, very proud to be a senior member of this prestigious organization, and looking forward to great things in the future for the martial arts community. The way this event was managed and ran was in tune with the way the organization has been through the years... TOP NOTCH!!! This was indeed an awesome event, and GrandMaster Seo (and his very able team) are to be commended for their hard work and dedication to Hap Ki Do and the Korean martial arts. It was very inspiring for some of us "old Timers" to see GrandMaster Seo on the mat working hard, and I for one came home ready to work harder. Watch for the WKF Can-Am Summit un May, 2012. Details to follow soon. Rudy W. Timmerman2011-04-04 | Reply | Report abuse
